About Hazen Reich
Born in California, Hazen Reich grew up all over the world due to the fact that his father was an economist for the U.S. Government. He spent his formative years in Korea, India and other far-away places graduating high school from the American International School of Kabul in Afghanistan. He then went on to Washington State University where he obtained a degree in horticulture and studied jewelry design under Bob Helm. After a successful career in the oil business, Hazen moved to Galveston in 1994 to tap into his art skills.
Now working as a full-time artist, Hazen and his muse work diligently in silver and bronze using a technique called “brazing” wherein he draws the metal into shapes that complement various stones. Since he does not cast his pieces, each one is unique. Hazen prefers to work mirroring nature and often incorporates trees and wildlife into his original designs. Dragons and smaller pieces are bronze and silver brazed.
